Please join us for the 2007 Charles and Helen White Symposium, "Innovation: Enhancing and Protecting Our Environment," on Thursday, October 4, 2007.

Featuring Enrique Castillo, professor of applied mathematics at the University of Cantabria (Spain), with presentations by William Marcuson, president of the American Society of Civil Engineers and director emeritus of the Geotechnical Laboratory at the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station, and Frank Hamons, deputy director for harbor development for the Maryland Port Administration.

Speakers and audience members will discuss innovation in geotechnical engineering and advances in the handling of slurries. Presentations will address harbor dredging, port construction, strengthening of eroding islands, and the environmental and economic impact of such work in the Chesapeake Bay.

This event will be preceded by the Innovation Hall of Fame induction ceremony, during which we will honor our latest inductee. All who plan to attend the White Symposium are welcome to join us at 4:30 p.m. in the Innovation Hall of Fame for this induction ceremony.
