Topics will include the analysis of transmission, reflection, and coupling techniques in standard and irregular circular, coaxial, and rectangular waveguides and cavities. Analytic techniques to be discussed include variational methods, scattering matrices, and Telegraphist's equations. The operation of many devices will be evaluated, including mode converters, reflectors, filters, tapers, directional couplers (broadband, overmoded, and tight-coupled), magic tees, attenuators and tuners. Active and passive solid state devices will also be described.
