Background | Criteria | Summer 2007 | Application

Background
The Women in Engineering Leadership Enhancement, Application and Design Academies have been created to provide students with the opportunity to spend 1-2 days learning and applying principles related to a particular engineering discipline found at the University of Maryland.

Criteria
Rising juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply.  Talented rising sophomores may be accepted on a case by case basis.  This program is open to young men and women.

Summer 2007

To test the effectiveness of academies, the Women in Engineering program ran three pilot sessions during the 2007 summer.

  • WIE LEAD in ECE (Electrical and Computer Engineering)
    July 26, 2007
  • WIE LEAD in MSE (Materials Science and Engineering)
    July 27, 2007
  • WIE LEAD in FPE (Fire Protection Engineering)
    July 30, 2007

The feedback received from participants was very positive for each session and 100% of the participants would recommend each academy to their peers.

Application
As we plan for future WIE LEAD Academies, Application information will be made available online and to area schools.  Please come back and visit this website in the fall for additional details.
