Activities

Paige Smith has served as the Director of the Women in Engineering Program in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland since September 2001. She has over 15 years of experience with recruiting and retaining diverse populations in engineering. Her current research focus is on student learning in engineering project teams.

In addition to her role as Director of WIE, Paige is the advisor to the University of Maryland section of the Society of Women Engineers. She currently serves on the Executive Boards of the Women in Engineering Programs and Advocates Network (WEPAN), and the Women in Engineering Division of the American Society for Engineering Education and on the Industrial Advisory Council for Virginia Tech’s Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity.
