Since I transferred to the University of Maryland in Fall 2006, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here both academically and socially, I am a member of several organizations on campus and off campus. Society of Women Engineers, Engineers Without Borders, and Volunteer Firefighting are some of those activities. My favorite experience at the University of Maryland so far has been my trip to Brazil . In Engineers Without Borders, my team designed a water sanitation system for an island off the southern coast of Brazil . In January 2007, I traveled with a team of students and we implemented our design on the island village. I have always enjoyed engineering, but since I came to the University of Maryland I have learned that engineering is more diverse than just problem solving. The University of Maryland has developed many innovative ways to engage students in engineering outside of the classroom. I am proud to be a Terp and look forward to my classes and innovative learning everyday!
