Year: Sophomore
I have loved math, science, and problem-solving for as long as I can remember, and so decided to pursue mechanical engineering. The University of Maryland and the Clark School have thus far provided so many amazing opportunities to get involved in hands on work, research, and leadership opportunities. I am involved in two programs at UMD which promote team research, Gemstone and QUEST. Gemstone is a four year interdisciplinary honors program with a team research component. My team is currently studying ways to maximize the absorption of carbon by forests, which would reduce the amount of carbon in the air. QUEST is a three year joint program between the business and engineering schools which focuses on innovation, quality systems management, and teamwork. I am also involved in the Society of Women Engineers and Women in Engineering. When I am not doing homework, I love playing intramural soccer, frisbee or going to Maryland 's great gym!
