Year: Sophomore
I liked building with K'nex as a kid and the first time I saw how an electrophoresis gel worked, I knew that I wanted to design and implement some form of technology that could be used in biology to improve health on a global scale. I am exploring the various fields that bioengineering can be applied to and I am most interested in its medical and mechanical application. I plan to minor in Nanotechnology and want to take part in advancing this growing field. I have conducted research in developmental biology at Johns Hopkins University and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute(NIH/NHLBI). During the semester, I volunteer at the Orthopaedic Mechanobiology Lab under the direction of Dr. Adam Hsieh. This year I will serve as External Vice President to the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. When you first arrive at the Clark School you will find that participating in clubs is one of the best ways to meet others with similar interests and take advantage of the many opportunities on campus. I love dancing, playing the piano and most of all traveling. I am a member of the Unbound dance team and the Latino Student Union.
