I became interested in engineering very early on due to my affinity for math and science. As the college search began, I was completely unsure of which discipline to enter. I attended a program here at the University of Maryland, run by the Women in Engineering program called Exploring Engineering. The program allowed our group of young women a day in each discipline. I had never even heard of fire protection and immediately became attracted to the program.
After three years here at the University, I believe that I made the best choice possible. I am a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers as well as Salamander, the fire protection honor society. I also became involved in Alpha Omega Epsilon, the engineering sorority.
