*MEDIA ADVISORY* October 6, 2009 WHAT: "WIE DREAM Conference" — The Women in Engineering Program at the University of Maryland’s Clark School of Engineering is pleased to present the WIE DREAM Conference. DREAM stands for "Developing Revolutionary Engineers And Mentors." Our mission is to recruit, retain and advance women pursuing the field of engineering, and this conference supports each aspect. Participants will experience engineering through interactive workshops, discussions and demonstrations made by engineering faculty and professional engineers. Our goal is to immerse participants in an exciting learning environment that ignites interest in engineering. Conference participants who opt to attend the University of Maryland's A. James Clark School of Engineering will be eligible to apply for a DREAM Scholarship valued up to $2500. WHO: This large-scale event is FREE and open to all high school students, with a focus on women in their sophomore or junior years who are interested in learning more about engineering. Parents and teachers are also welcome.
