COLLEGE PARK, Md.—The Institute of Higher Education and Center for World-Class Universities has ranked the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland 13th in the world among all engineering programs for 2007.

The institute, a unit of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, based the rankings on total engineering-related research expenditures, highly cited research articles, articles included in the Scientific Citation index and the percentage of articles published in the top 20 percent of engineering journals.

"This world-wide recognition honors the excellent work performed by our outstanding faculty, staff and students," said Clark School Dean Nariman Farvardin.
