What do engineers do? Who can be an engineer? Is engineering fun?

A great way to find out is to try a Clark School one-day introductory workshop or outreach program, such as KEYS or Girl Scout Engineering Saturday, during the school year. Or, if you're getting ready to apply to college, you might find our multi-week summer SAT workshop helpful.

Need more? We also offer a variety of Summer Programs that let you explore engineering over an entire week.

KEYs to Empowering Youth
KEYS to Empowering Youth is a science and technology mentoring workshop for 11- to13-year-old girls that provides them the opportunity to meet and work with women studying and employed in science and engineering. KEYS offers interactive, hands-on activities that demonstrate the importance of engineering, science and technology and their impact on society.

An Afternoon of Engineering
Saturday, November 21, 2009
1:00-4:00 PM

Current University of Maryland students are holding a workshop for middle school students to explore various fields of engineering. The afternoon will consist of several fun and educational hands-on group activities covering a range of engineering topics. The camp is focused on activities that will spark student interest in science and engineering, demonstrating the "fun side" of science. The camp is free to all participants (transportation is not provided). Due to the size of the camp and the number of volunteers, only 30 students may participate. Those who wish to participate or learn more about the program may e-mail the addresses listed below.

SAT Strategies Workshop
This workshop, open to all rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade students, focuses on successful test-taking skills and reasoning strategies to help students maximize their SAT scores. The workshop covers the math, verbal and the new writing sections of the test, and provides 40 hours of instruction (four days a week for four weeks), a pre-test and post-test, as well as periodic evaluations to gauge student progress throughout the workshop.
