Fire Protection Engineering Professor and Chair James A. Milke has been selected as the 2010-2011 Provost’s Faculty Academic Advisor of the Year.

Each year the provost presents three awards for excellence in academic advising, one each to faculty, staff and a graduate student. The award is announced in the spring and presented to recipients at the Annual Undergraduate Studies Advising conference, which this year is scheduled for August 16, 2011.

Milke was selected from a very competitive pool of candidates and was nominated by students in fire protection engineering. His nomination letters spoke to his sincere interest in the lives of his students, always making time to talk with them about their studies and to provide them with guidance on internships and research projects.  He is credited by many students as making a difference in their professional lives and is valued for the honest and forthright feedback that he provides to students in fire protection.

Clark School Director of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Support Jenna Dolan also was honored this year, with the 2010-2011 Provost's Professional Advisor of the Year Award.
