Clark School Aerospace Students Soar

AHS Design CompetitionClark School aerospace engineering students won six of 19 Vertical Flight Foundation Scholarships and for the 11th time in 14 years took first place in the American Helicopter Society Design Competition (image at left). The June 21 flight of the Gamera II human-powered helicopter was certified for the national record at 49.9 seconds.

FDA-Supported Center to Hold CERSI Day, September 5

CERSI Day, the showcase event for UMD’s new Center for Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation, will be held September 5 in the Kim Building, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event is free, but registration is required. Register online now.

Alex Mehr '03Zoosk romantic social network co-founder, Alex Mehr '03 (pictured left), kicks off the series on October 4. Balloon catheter-inventor Thomas J. Fogarty, M.D., speaks on October 18 as part of the 2012 Fischell Festival of Bioengineering. Both lectures are at 5 p.m.

Baltimore-Area Alumni, Save the Date!

Lockheed Martin "Innovate the Future" Competition

Lockheed Martin Corporation has announced a worldwide innovation contest with cash awards totaling $50,000. Deadline to enter is September 30. Up to five ideas will be selected for cash awards.
