The Clark School's Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE) is establishing a branch in Seoul, Korea, at Hanyang University. The new center will help Korean companies improve product quality and durability by assessing electronic parts and manufactured goods and creating new research and development techniques. CALCE has also launched three additional initiatives: electronics prognostics and health management, which has strong potential to dramatically improve the availability and maintenance costs of electronic products and systems; an international collaborative research study to obtain critical missing information related to long-term (more than 10-year) reliability of lead-free electronics; and a new contract with Intelligent Automation, Inc. for “Enhanced Prognostic Model for Digital Electronics.”

Civil and Environmental Engineering has earned accreditation for three of its project management graduate degree programs from the Project Management Institute and the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management. This is the first time project management degree programs offered by an engineering school (as opposed to a business school) have been accredited. The accredited programs are the Master of Science in Civil Engineering, the Master of Engineering in Project Management and the Doctorate of Philosophy.
