THIS Thursday May 1, EGR 1108 at 8:00 pm
Attention! Interested in getting involved this summer? Due to special circumstances, the second phase of the Burkina Faso solar lighting project is on a very accelerated schedule. This is a new project for our chapter and incorporates the solar energy technology we've utilized in past Burkina Faso Projects with a new system to recharge portable lanterns. Design work and planning on this unique project is scheduled begin this week and continue through the summer, with potential travel at the end of August. A team of highly dedicated students are needed for this project to be successful. If you will be living in the area this summer and are willing to commit to this project now, after finals and through the summer, please attend the first team meeting this Thursday in EGR 1108 at 8:00 pm. French speakers needed too! For more information, email Ryan Payne at rpayne.umd@gmail.com.

Peru Co-Project Leader:
There are currently a few potential projects that are being considered in a village near Cuzco, Peru. The village has 3 primary concerns: to acquire potable drinking water, an irrigation system, and cheaper electricity. Project leaders will be investigating these potential projects to select the most viable option for an EWB project. Also, students cannot be a project leader while holding another executive board position.
For this application, please write a personal statement about a page in length explaining why you would be an effective and organized leader. Any past leadership positions, EWB experience, and relevant information should also be included in the letter along with your name, major, and year. All statements should be emailed to Sarah Ness (ness.sarah@gmail.com). If you have any questions please contact Sarah as well.

    International Opportunities Page!!!
EWB is just one part of international life as an engineer. The world is rushing ahead with advances, and the United States must be a full member of that community of education and research and work, or be left behind, as individuals and as a country. Learn about Undergraduate and Graduate opportunities abroad. If you have more opportunities that you would like to share with others, please email us at ewbumd@gmail.com.
