About EWB-UMCP:

Welcome to the University of Maryland's student chapter of Engineers Without Borders

Currently, the world's population is just under 6.5 billion people. In the next two decades, almost 2 billion more people will inhabit the Earth. It has been estimated that 95% of that growth will take place in developing or under-developed countries. Engineers have a role and responsibility in solving these global problems!

Engineers Without Borders is a non-profit organization that partners with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through implementation of environmentally and economically sustainable engineering projects, while developing internationally responsible engineering students.

Engineers Without Borders has been a University of Maryland, College Park, SGA-recognized student group since the Spring of 2004. If you are interested in joining the group or becoming more involved, please contact us at ewbumd@gmail.com or come to one of our monthly general body meetings. Go to our events page.

General body meetings are held monthly, many with relevant speakers on issues of engineering, development, and sustainability. The executive board meets weekly and uses the email listserv to post opportunities for further involvement. Individual project meetings are organized separately and members are encouraged to contact project leaders directly or check the website for meeting times if they are interested in working on a project.
