Nominate a Teacher or Colleague to the Innovation Hall of Fame

The Clark School is now accepting nominations for the Innovation Hall of Fame. If you know of a Clark School faculty member or alum (or other engineer closely associated with the school) whose technological innovations have advanced the field or had a positive impact on society, please submit your nomination for this year's award by March 9, 2007.

Great Expectations: Clark School Update

Two Clark School alumni couples have recently stepped up to support the Great Expectations campaign and the Clark School. Erik Young (B.S. '74, biochemistry) and his wife, Joyce, have helped aerospace engineering to establish a faculty fellowship in honor of Erik’s father with a gift of $250,000. Also, T.K. "Patrick" Sung (M.S. '69 and Ph.D. '72, chemical engineering) and his wife, Marguerite (B.S. '70, mathematics), have pledged $1.5 million to the Clark School to establish two endowed professorships in chemical and biomolecular engineering. Hollenbach Leads Terps to Win in Orlando

Terrapins QB and senior mechanical engineering major Sam Hollenbach was named Game MVP after the Terps football team defeated Purdue in the Champs Sports Bowl (24-7) on December 29.

Women in Engineering Forms Advisory Board

More than 150 alumni, corporate representatives and Clark School leaders gathered in the Kim Engineering Building rotunda on the evening of February 6 to announce the formation of the Women in Engineering Advisory Board. ECE Career Fair, February 16

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is holding a job fair event for alumni, graduate and undergraduate students on Friday, February 16, in the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by the ECE Graduate Student Association.

Re-Dedicate Yourself: Order of the Engineer, Feb. 22

The Engineering Chapter of the Alumni Association, together with Lockheed Martin Corporation, are hosting the Order of the Engineer Ceremony and Presentation in the Jeong H. Ted Leonsis of AOL will kick off the spring Whiting-Turner Business and Entrepreneurial Lecture Series at 5 p.m. on March 29. Art Collins of Medtronic will deliver the final lecture of the academic year at 5 p.m. on May 3. Whiting-Turner lectures are held in the Kim Engineering Building lecture hall. Steven Gotoff, B.S. '78 (zoology) and '82 (electrical engineering), has received a Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Fellows Award in recognition of his outstanding technical achievement within the intelligence community.

Daniel Rolf, B.S. ’99 and M.S. ’06, aerospace engineering, reports he is working on Project Orion (for the space shuttle) in Denver, Colo.

Lael Rudd, B.S. ’96 and Ph.D. ’01, aerospace engineering, reports that he is a technical specialist engineer for Northrop Grumman and lectures part-time for UCLA’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Yan "Lindsay" Sun, M.S. '03 and Ph.D. ’04, electrical engineering, an assistant professor at the University of Rhode Island, has received a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Award.

Chong W. Yung, Ph.D. ’05, chemical engineering, has published new research in Metabolic Engineering on biohybrid artificial organs that could change the way patients with cancer and other diseases receive treatment.
