The
goal of the Student
Academic Success-Degree Completion Policy is to promote
undergraduate student success. The policy establishes a
structured framework and criteria to guide all
students entering in the Fall 2005 semester or
later towards completion of an undergraduate degree within
a reasonable time period.
For assistance in building your four year degree program,
please use the suggested plans (also knows as templates, in Excel format)
below:
Consult
the degree
curriculum sheets and select the appropriate suggested
plan that correlates with your declared major from the
menu above.
- Print
out a suggested plan for your declared major from the
list above.
- On
your suggested plan, list when you plan to enroll in each course. Please
take into consideration any AP, IB, transfer work, or approved substitutions
that may have already fulfilled degree requirements.
- Consult
the college and departmental benchmarks (course requirements
you are required to meet by 45, 60 and 90 credits) from
the benchmark menu below.
- Once completed,
please submit a copy to your department and the Office
of Undergraduate Advising & Academic Support located
in 1124 Glenn L. Martin Hall. Note that if there
are any changes to your plan, you will be responsible
for creating a new plan and submitting it to both offices.
- Students
in declared majors such as: Aerospace, Biological
Resources, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Fire
Protection, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering will
be required to submit a four year degree plan prior to
registering for their third full time semester.*
Any
student pursuing a B.S. in Engineering will be required
to submit the paperwork and wait for college approval
prior to being admitted and pursuing the degree.
* If appropriate, the student and advisor
will develop a revised plan which details the timely completion
of the remaining degree requirements. It is the student's
responsibility to ensure any revised plans are forwarded
to the Office of Undergraduate Advising & Academic Support
in 1124 of Glenn L. Martin Hall for review. As
a result of this review, a student may be required
to change his/her major.

- Please visit various
departmental engineering websites and explore the
different majors available to you. For
assistance, please speak with an advisor in Undergraduate
Advising & Academic
Support.
- Decide on a tentative major, print out a suggested
plan for your intended major from the menu above.
- Consult
the college and departmental benchmarks (course requirements

from the benchmark menu below.
- These sample templates presume
that a student is full time and entered the major during
the freshman year. If your plan deviates from the recommended
plans above then indicate which semester you plan on
registering for the remaining courses. Please take
into consideration any AP, IB, transfer work, or approved
substitutions that may have already fulfilled degree requirements.
- Once
completed, please submit a copy to the Office of Undergraduate
Advising & Academic
Support located in 1124 Glenn L. Martin Hall. Note
that if there are any changes to your plan, you
will be responsible for creating a new plan and
submitting it to both offices.
- Undecided engineering
students will be required to complete a four
year plan with a tentative major in mind prior to registering
for their third full time semester.*

The Clark School of
Engineering has expectations and policies that are designed
to promote the success of its students and ensure timely
progress towards graduation. Students,
in consultation with College and departmental
advisors, are required to develop an individual plan for
timely completion of his/her degree program. The
plan will be reviewed by the student and his/her
advisor on a regular basis and revised, if necessary, as
individual circumstances change. Under
normal circumstances, a student is expected
to complete his/her degree requirements in no more than four
years. The student
is responsible to complete a specific number
of courses each academic year.
Academic Benchmark Statements For (.doc):
Expectation and progress towards
the degree will be benchmarked at three points in
a student's program: 45 credits, 60 credits, and 90 credits. A
student who does not meet a benchmark and is not making
timely progress towards his/her degree, will be required
to meet with his/her departmental advisor before the
start of the next semester. Failure to do so may result
in the cancellation of his/her pre-registration for the
subsequent semester.*
*If appropriate, the student and advisor
will develop a revised plan which details the timely
completion of the remaining degree requirements. It is
the student's responsibility to ensure any revised plans
are forwarded to the Office of Undergraduate Advising & Academic
Support in 1124 of Glenn L. Martin Hall for review. As a result of
this review, a student may be required to change his/her major.
